About Homora

Fair shared money, without the guesswork

Homora is household budgeting for couples and housemates. It makes the agreement about shared costs explicit and the settlement exact, and it leaves your money where it is.

Why Homora exists

Sharing a home should not mean keeping score

Couples and housemates share rent, groceries and a hundred small costs. Most of them keep it fair with a spreadsheet, a group chat and a good memory, which works until someone is not sure who paid for what, or what was agreed.

Homora makes the agreement explicit: how each cost is split, and that everyone affected accepted it. Then it makes the settlement exact: who owes whom, for which month, to the cent.

Along the way it keeps personal money personal. Each person decides what the household can see, including their income.

What Homora stands for

Three promises, kept in the product

Money in a shared home is part numbers and part trust. Homora is built so the numbers are exact and the trust is never assumed.

  • Fair by agreement

Shared costs are split the way you both agreed, and a change to the split needs the other person’s acceptance before it applies.

  • Private by default

Personal money stays personal. What a household sees comes from membership, never from a partner’s account, and income can stay private even inside a shared budget.

  • Records, never moves money

Homora works out who owes whom and gives you everything to settle it. Your bank stays your bank.

Principles

How we make decisions

A few rules we keep when we choose what to build and how to word it.

  • No bank connections

Homora does not log in to your bank. Everything in it is entered by you, so you always know where a figure came from.

  • You make the payment

Homora works out who owes whom, with the amount and a reference. You pay from your own bank, then choose Record payment.

  • Personal stays personal

What a household sees comes from membership and from each person’s own choices, never from a partner’s account.

  • Every figure says what it is

A number is a forecast, incurred, paid or reconciled, and it says so. Colour never carries meaning on its own.

  • Built in South Africa, for a worldwide product

Homora starts with rand prices, local cost presets and your data in South Africa, and it is built for households anywhere.
